Andrew Scheer’s climate plan suppose to be another answer to combat climate change after going through the 60 pages Document over the weekend, I found out that there are more questions but no answer.
Putting it side by side with Harper’s Green deal plan, there were a lot of similarities. Scheer’s plan was almost the same Plan propose by Harper and at one point in 2015, Harper confessed that his plan will never work without pricing carbon.
If Andrew Scheer #1 climate plan is a driving law, it will read like this:
If you exceed the speed limit, you will pay a fine
Canadians: Scheer what’s the limit?
Scheer: I don’t know 🤷🏼♂️
Canadians: how much is the fine?
Scheer: Let’s wait and see 😏
Scheer’s #1 Proposal: A License to Pollute More
I will set emissions standards for major emitters that will lower greenhouse gases and drive Canadian businesses to the highest standards of green technology.
Companies will be required to reduce their emissions to those limits. Those that emit more than is allowed under the Green Investment Standards will be required to invest in research, development, and adoption of emissions-reducing technology related to their industry.
In a lame man’s term: If you pollute more than you are allowed, you will pay yourself some certain amount of money in the form of new technology.
Why would high emitters change their behavior when they have nothing to lose for bad behaviour. The big emitters will only keep polluting. Andrew Scheer’s will let pollution continue.
